Announcement on behalf of Ellen Schur, MD, MS (Professor of Medicine, Director, UW Nutrition and Obesity Research Center and Clinical Research Director, UW Medicine Diabetes Institute):
With both appreciation and regret, I want to announce the retirement of the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute CRU nurse manager, Elaine Adams, RN. Elaine has been the hands-on leader and face of the CRU since its inception in 2018. She navigated the unit through and back from the COVID-19 pandemic with unfailing grace, humor, and dedication. Under her guidance, the CRU grew from a handful of studies to over 20 active studies in the past 5 years. She is moving on to other activities, but, I’m happy to say, will be helping out on a part-time basis—so this isn’t a good-bye, thankfully!
Stepping into her role is Robyn Fahlstrom, MPH, RN. Robyn is an accomplished research nurse with a background in epidemiology who most recently coordinated UW’s EDIC/DCCT study site for 10 years. For those of you who don’t know her, I’m certain you will be impressed by her competence and good nature. We remain in good hands.
